We're very excited to offer Purement, the world's first antibacterial 3D printing filament, in the Clean Strands online store. A few months ago, I met with BnK, the company that manufacturers Purement. BnK is based in South Korea and Soomin Chun is the Director of Marketing:
Rachel: How did you get involved in 3D printing?
BnK: BnK is a supplier of automotive parts for GM, Hyundai, Renault Samsung Motors and LG. For a long time, we have been seeking an opportunity to bring our knowledge of the automotive industry to a new industry. We found the 3D printing industry so exciting and helpful for our world. So, we decided to bring new value to 3D printing by combining it with our knowledge of the automotive industry.
Rachel: Why is your company focused on eco-friendly 3D printing?
BnK: In the automotive industry, one of the big issues is developing eco-friendly materials. Automotive materials are closely associated with people, and demand for eco-friendly materials is growing. For 3D printing, we wanted to offer something totally new, not just different colors or low prices. For these reasons, we decided to enter the 3D printing industry with an eco-friendly filament.
Rachel: Is there a specific story that you'd like to share about 3D printing and the environment?
BnK: 3D printing has been called the third industrial revolution. Soon, each of us will have our own 'micro-factories' in our homes. Because we will have the ability to manufacture things for ourselves and our families, we need to ensure that the materials we are using are healthy and eco-friendly. When we take our Purement filament to 3D Printing trade shows, parents and children are really interested in our products. They tell us that they would like to use Purement for toys and education, and in their kitchens and bathrooms. One customer even told us that he has 3D printed a kitchen sponge with our Purement filament. Currently, we are preparing to launch Zeroment, an ABS filament that does not have toluene or xylene, and contains four times less styrene than regular ABS. We are always thinking about humans and the environment.
Rachel: Thanks BnK!
